University of Gothenburg meets society's challenges with versatile knowledge. With 58,000 students and 6,800 employees, the university is a large and inspiring workplace. Strong research and attractive education attract researchers and students from all over the world. With new knowledge and perspectives, the University of Gothenburg contributes to a better future.

One of our lawyers on the unit will be on leave for a year, and we are therefore looking for a substitute. If you have an interest in case processing, developing internal regulations, and contributing to a uniform legal perspective with high quality, this may be the right role for you. We are looking for someone who sees law as a central part of public administration – not as an obstacle, but as a tool to create clarity, legal certainty, and structure. If you also have a particular interest in administrative law, we see it as a great asset. As an administrative lawyer, you will work at the Section for Administrative Law, which is located within the Unit for Law and Information Management under the Common Administration (GF) at the university. GF supports all faculties and departments of the university so that we can fulfill our mission in research, education, and collaboration with our surrounding society. Administrative lawyers and case handlers work at the section.

Responsibilities

As an administrative lawyer, you will assist the university management, faculties, departments, and other administrative support in matters of administrative and higher education law. The role also includes developing internal regulations, guidelines, and policies for the university's operations, as well as participating in internal information and training initiatives.

Responsibilities include, among other things:

  • providing legal advice and expertise with a focus on administrative and higher education law within the operations,
  • processing cases regarding the disclosure of public documents,
  • responding to consultations and handling supervision cases,
  • participating in the development of the university's steering documents and regulations,
  • participating in training, seminars, and information meetings regarding current regulations and their application,
  • handling disciplinary cases in cases of suspected cheating.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a law degree and some years of work experience in independent legal work. Current experience at a university or college working in the field of administrative law is meritorious, as is experience in case processing and internal legal advice at a public authority. The outward-facing role with many internal and external contacts requires both social competence, clarity, and pedagogical ability. As a lawyer, you have the ability to communicate simply, professionally, and clearly with non-lawyers. You are keen to work according to the provisions of the Administrative Procedure Act regarding swift, efficient, and legally secure case processing, and you have the ability to plan and structure your work, especially during high workload and stressful situations. It is important that you have good teamwork skills and want to contribute to community and a good work environment. Very good skills in spoken and written Swedish and English are a prerequisite. We place great importance on your personal qualities and assume that you have a strong sense of service and responsibility.

Employment

The employment is a fixed-term contract until 2027-08-31, full-time (100%), located at the Section for Administrative Law at the Unit for Law and Information Management. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.
